Data Engineer
Our client is a high growth, exciting and already-profitable startup in Toronto - a chance to join a Rocketship at an early stage.
Your work would have direct impact on the lives and livelihoods of thousands of content creators around the globe. We're seeking a Data Engineer to own the health, quality, and reliability of critical data infrastructure. You'll be the go-to person ensuring data flows seamlessly across the stack - from pipelines to warehouse to the AI systems that power their products. Think of yourself as the Chief Engineer keeping all systems running, often under pressure.
This is a hybrid role, 4 days onsite, HQ downtown Toronto
What You'll Do:Own data pipeline health, monitoring, debugging, and ensuring data quality across all pipelinesBuild and maintain integrations across the full data stack: SQL → ETL → Data Warehouse → InsightsDevelop and support AI/agentic systems, including building context pipelines that power their AI productsWork with AWS infrastructure (ECS, Lambdas, RDS), Snowflake, Airflow, DBT, and AirbyteEstablish metrics and monitoring for pipeline performance and data-driven flowsTroubleshoot integration issues and fix complex data problems under pressureBuild data integrations with social platforms and content storage systems (Google Drive, iCloud Photos, etc.)
What We're Looking For:3+ years in Data EngineeringStrong proficiency in Python, SQL, Airflow, DBT, Airbyte, SnowflakeExperience with AWS (ECS, Lambdas, RDS)Solid foundation in ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data quality/monitoringExcellent communicator (written and verbal) with stakeholder management experienceProblem-solver who thrives under pressure and can debug complex data issues quicklyComfortable with/experienced in working in a fast-paced startup
Bonus Skills:Streamlit experienceSocial platform scraping / reverse engineering undocumented APIsBuilding LLM/agentic systems and engineering context for themExperience with LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere)
