Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada MST Rebar Inc. Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Job Title:
Intermediate Structural Engineer

Location: Woodbridge, Ontario (On-site)

Company: MST Rebar Inc.

About MST Rebar Inc.

MST Rebar Inc. is a leading rebar services company, committed to delivering high-quality reinforcing steel solutions across major concrete construction projects in Ontario & the USA. Our team values accuracy, safety, and innovation, and we're looking for a technically strong, hands-on engineer to support our growing operations.

Role Overview

As an Intermediate Structural Engineer at MST Rebar, you will be working on-site in Woodbridge, ON, collaborating closely with field crews, project managers, and other engineers. Your role will span structural design verification, estimation, and takeoffs, ensuring that rebar work aligns with design specs, safety standards, and cost-effective execution.

Key Responsibilities

· Interpret and review structural drawings, rebar shop drawings, reinforcement schedules, and construction plans.

· Perform structural analysis and design checks for concrete elements (beams, columns, slabs, walls), ensuring code compliance.

· Use S-FRAME (and related Altair tools) to model, analyze, and optimize structural systems.

· Use S-CONCRETE for reinforced concrete design: columns, beams, walls, continuous beams, and detailing.

· Coordinate with site superintendents, detailers, and contractors, verifying that rebar placement adheres to design intent.

· Conduct on-site inspections of rebar placement, splices, and construction quality, and ensure safe, accurate execution.

· Produce detailed technical calculations, reports, and as-built documentation.

· Prepare and review takeoffs and estimations for reinforcing rebar: use aSa estimating tools for material quantity calculations, cost assessment, and bid preparation.

· Work closely with aSa software suite, such as aSa estimating, aSa Studio, or ProRebar to automate and validate rebar estimating, detailing, and scheduling.

· Participate in QA/QC processes (quality assurance and quality control) for rebar work, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.

· Support project close-out with documentation, structural reviews, and any design revisions.

· Using Mathcad to check.

· Marking up drawings as needed using Blue Beam.

Qualifications & Skills

· Bachelor's degree in civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).

· 2-4 years of structural engineering experience, with strong exposure to concrete and rebar design, construction, or detailing.

· Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility in Ontario is a strong plus.

· Experience with Altair S-FRAME for structural modelling and analysis.

· Familiarity with S-CONCRETE (Altair) for design and code-checking of reinforced concrete members.

· Proficiency in aSa software (estimating, ProRebar, or other modules) to support takeoff, estimating, and rebar detailing.

· Strong understanding of building codes, design standards, and structural design principles.

· Excellent communication skills: ability to liaise between office engineering teams and on-site construction staff.

· Proven problem-solving abilities and strong attention to detail.

· Microsoft excel, word and power point is must.

· Valid driver's license, and willingness to travel between job sites if needed.

What We Offer

· Competitive salary based on experience.

· Comprehensive benefits package

· GoodLife discounts

· Opportunities for professional growth and mentorship within a growing company.

· Hands-on engineering role with meaningful on-site involvement.

· A collaborative, safety-oriented culture working with skilled field and office teams.
