About the Role

Carelink Healthcare Inc. is seeking compassionate and dedicated Developmental Support Workers (DSWs) to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide personalized support and care to individuals with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities in residential, community, or healthcare settings.

The ideal candidate is patient, empathetic, and committed to promoting independence, dignity, and quality of life for each person supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered care and assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and mobility.
  • Support clients in developing life skills, communication abilities, and community integration.
  • Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and behavioral strategies in collaboration with healthcare and social service professionals.
  • Monitor, document, and report changes in client behavior, health, and progress according to established protocols.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed and authorized.
  • Encourage and facilitate participation in social, recreational, and educational activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for clients and coworkers.
  • Respond appropriately to medical and behavioral emergencies and follow all safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with families, supervisors, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Uphold confidentiality and compliance with agency policies, legislative standards, and ethical care practices.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Developmental Services Worker Diploma, Social Service Worker, or equivalent post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certification (Level C or higher).
  • Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (an asset).
  • Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or dual diagnosis is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Supports (PBS), Person-Centered Planning, and Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) techniques considered an asset.
