Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated Medical Lab Assistant to support our Mohs surgery laboratory. You will assist in preparing frozen tissue specimens, maintaining lab organization, and ensuring smooth workflow during procedures. This role works closely with our surgical and lab team to ensure timely and accurate specimen processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing and processing frozen tissue specimens during Mohs surgery under supervision
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterility of lab instruments and workspace
  • Accurately label and organize specimens and slides to maintain traceability
  • Manage lab inventory and notify the team of supply needs
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and proper functioning
  • Follow all lab safety, infection control, and clinic protocols
  • Support documentation and record-keeping as required
  • Collaborate with surgical and lab staff for efficient workflow

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician certificate or diploma program
  • certification with CSMLS or MLPAO is preferred
  • Knowledge of lab safety and provincial healthcare regulations
  • Experience in clinical or surgical lab settings is an asset
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent with suitable science and math courses
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Up-to-date immunizations and clear criminal record check

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 – 20 per week
