Job Overview

As a key member of our team, Clinical Assistant will support the delivery of family medicine services, working closely with our physicians to provide primary care to a diverse patient population. This is a clinic-based (non-hospital) role focused on building long-term patient relationships and ensuring continuity of care. This position requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting patient interviews
  • Taking medical histories
  • Performing physical examinations
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and imaging
  • Diagnosing and treating illnesses
  • Developing and implementing management plans
  • Coordinating care with specialists
  • Performing clinical procedures
  • Providing preventative health counselling
  • Participating in clinic rounds and team case discussions
  • Documenting all patient interactions using EMR
  • Working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Assisting in ongoing care and patient education
  • Other duties as assigned

Note: This is not a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Assistant position.

Qualifications

  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM)
  • Must hold a medical degree from a nationally approved Faculty of Medicine
  • Must meet CPSM registration requirements
  • 6 months to 1 year of previous experience in a medical or clinical settings required
  • Flexible, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and initiative, especially when handling confidential information
  • High level of professionalism, work ethic, and reliability
  • Strong commitment to patient care and safety
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team

Additional Requirements

  • Proficiency in English
  • Experience with electronic medical records and digital documentation
  • Completion of a Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search)
  • Clearance from the Adult and Child Abuse Registries
  • May be required to undergo a skills assessment or provide credential verification
