PART PROBLEM SOLVER. PART MECHANIC. ALL superhero.
The Opportunity
Our AMA brand is important to us, and we set the bar for the towing industry. One in five Albertans are an AMA member and count on us to keep them safe.
AMA leads the towing industry in compensation, providing a competitive base salary and an achievable performance incentive program with earning potential up to $28.50 / hour to start. In addition, we offer an amazing career with paid comprehensive training, employer-paid benefit plan, company-provided safety apparel, and safety that repeatedly surpasses the industry standards.
AMA uses the best towing equipment available and provides a first-class member experience.
Becoming an AMA Service Vehicle Operator is a prospective career change option into the dynamic towing industry, no prior tow experience is required.
Successful candidates will be trained on standard service vehicle operation and required to work 8-hour shifts alternating biweekly between morning shifts (6:00 am – 2:00 pm or 7:00 am – 3:00 pm) and afternoon shifts (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm or 4:00 pm – 12:00 am). Weekend coverage alternates every 4 weeks (4 weeks of Monday to Friday, 4 weeks of working Saturday and Sunday with 2 days off during the week). Plus, the opportunity to work additional hours and earn overtime is also available.
A Place to Belong
AMA is more than a workplace; it's a family. Together, we help protect the things that matter most to our more than one-million members—everything from roadside safety to retail savings, food security to childhood well-being. And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless
Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we're passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you'll enjoy:
Competitive salary and flexible benefits, with five packages to choose from and up to $3,000 in health and wellness spending accounts.
Employer-paid retirement savings program, including 5% AMA contribution and 5% matching.
Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, driver education, registry services, and more.
Free travel medical insurance for you and your immediate family.
Ongoing professional development, with unlimited learning opportunities, full Udemy access, and dedicated time for personal growth.
Paid vacation and personal days, including three weeks of vacation to start, a Me Day, a Volunteer Day, and the option to purchase additional vacation time.
A generous annual allowance for work apparel, safety footwear and AMA uniforms totaling $850.00/year.
A shift schedule that is given three months in advance with no overnight or split shifts. Overtime opportunities are available as well.
Who You Are
You're one of those amazing people who goes out of their way to help others. Helping a young mother with a baby stroller up the stairs or carrying groceries inside for an elderly person is just all in a typical day for you. You're like an everyday superhero (only without the weird cape). We could use someone with your superpowers and passion for helping others. You don't have to be a mechanic or have any other special skills—but with your willingness to learn, we'll provide you with all the training you'll need on state-of-the-art technology and equipment, to be confident in your role.
You love the idea of being able to help people and make a difference in their day — even in a challenging situation.
You have an interest in the automotive industry and enjoy working with your hands. You also don't mind getting them dirty doing a bit of lifting.
You know how to think quickly on your feet — for you, there's nothing more satisfying than solving puzzles and finding creative solutions.
You're not a 9-to-5 desk job type of person. You want variety and a job that offers something different each day.
You work well on your own, but you also enjoy being part of a team.
You care about doing things right — you proudly showcase your safety-first attitude in everything you do.
How You'll Make an Impact

What You Bring to the Table
You have a high school diploma, or relevant experience.
You hold a valid Class 5 with fewer than six demerit points at any one time, and consider yourself comfortable operating a full-size pick-up truck (you'll get bonus points if you have a good grasp of city routes).
You're a person with a genuine passion for helping your fellow Albertans.
The ability to thrive while working and being outdoors, in all of our seasons
You are able to pass a Police Information Check to be licensed for the Automotive Lock Bypass license.
Our Recruitment Process:
It takes a special type of person to be successful in this role: a rescue mentality, tenacity with troubleshooting, a commitment to safety, and exceptional customer service. Here's a breakdown of what you can expect as you go through our recruitment process.
Step 1 – Apply online to show your interest: We encourage you to include a cover letter describing your interest in this career, your passion for specific aspects of the position, and any relatable experience that will help you succeed. Our Talent Scouts will review your submission, and shortlisted candidates will be invited via email to schedule a prescreen video call.
Step 2 – Prescreen video call with our Talent Scouts: This call is for us to learn about you, but also for you to learn more about the role and ensure it's the right fit. We'll go through the details of the position (responsibilities, compensation and variable pay bonuses, training and progression), answer any questions you might have, discuss your career story and relevant experience, and confirm the minimum qualifications for the position.
Step 3 – In-Person interview with our Fleet Supervisors: Successful candidates will be invited to our Service Centre Shop to meet with our fleet supervisors. You'll need to bring a recent (within the past 30 days) personal driver's abstract and your list of supervisory references. They will go through a variety of behavioural, situational, and minor troubleshooting interview questions.
Step 4 – Pre-employment checks: Successful candidates will be contacted to schedule our pre-employment assessments. This includes a physical test completed by Surehire, where you'll go through the repetitive job movements of the position (Stretches, cardio, and squats with a 75 lb weight). You'll also complete a Professional Driving Assessment, where you'll drive one of our vehicles and a trainer would observe your driving ability (similar to completing a class 5 road test where we expect our drivers to lead by example on the road — courteous, respectful, and committed to safety at all times.)
Step 5 – Offer and start date: Once all pre-employment checks and references have been completed and reviewed, successful candidates will be contacted to discuss a start date and to complete the required Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. An offer letter will then be generated.
Step 6 – Your first week: Your supervisor will help you get familiar with the team, set you up for training, and you'll attend a new hire orientation alongside other new members of the AMA family from across the association.
Belonging Matters Here
AMA is committed to providing an inclusive, respectful, and accessible environment. If you require an accommodation at any time during our recruitment process, please contact . We'll work with you feel supported throughout your journey with us.
WORK MODEL:
Remote-We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
