Gillam School is a thriving Nursery to Grade 12 school located 304 km north of Thompson on the Fox Lake Cree Nation Traditional Territory. Gillam is a prosperous community with a beautiful, newly-renovated recreation centre that includes: skating and curling rinks, a community library, a movie theatre and a fitness centre. The community is a recreational paradise offering fishing, boating, hunting, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, and hiking trails. Other amenities include a hospital, pharmacy and a Co-op grocery store.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree and valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • A sound knowledge of Manitoba Early Years curricula
  • Previous Early Years teaching experience
  • A sound knowledge and experience with school-based technology
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Way of Life
  • Experience working in a northern community
  • Experience working with students with unique needs
  • A commitment to differentiated instruction
  • A willingness to inquire into best practices and reflect on practices
  • A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn
  • Self-motivated
