We are looking for a Laundry Aide to join the team of Niagara Ina Grafton. NIGGV is commonly referred to as the "Village," and since 1958, we have grown to be one of the largest providers of services for seniors in Ontario. Today, we offer 338 rental/lease apartments and 47 bungalows of independent and assisted living. This community offers a variety of amenities (chapel, library, an auditorium with shuffleboard courts, four five-pin bowling lanes, billiard room, therapeutic/recreational swimming pool, lounges, atrium and café). The Village also accommodates 40 Long Term Care suites.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Manager, Food and Laundry Services, the Laundry Aide will be responsible for performing all laundry tasks in an efficient and high-quality manner for Long-Term Care and Assisted Living Services units. Responsibilities include:

• Sort, wash, dry and fold resident clothing and linens;
• Label all resident clothing and linens with unit numbers and replace labels when required;
• Pick-up and deliver personal laundry bags from residents' units following the laundry schedule;
• Maintain documentation of all laundry picked-up, washed and delivered and ensure items are returned to the correct resident;
• Record all lost and found articles and maintain cleanliness and organization or laundry storage room organized;
• Maintain supply of chemicals; complete order sheet as required;
• Adhere to all policies and procedures pertaining to the operation of the facility in regard to infection control, health and safety, personnel practices, internal and external emergencies, residents' rights and confidentiality.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Previous experience in working in a long term facility is an asset;
• Be able to physically perform the duties and responsibilities assigned;
• Highly developed conflict resolution, critical thinking, decision-making and problem solving skills as well as demonstrated ability to work independently as well as excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Take initiative to always improve work practices.
• Able to perform heavy lifting tasks and visual acuity for inspecting linens and garments;
• Must demonstrate organizational skills; and,
• Must be willing to enter residents when required including during outbreaks.
