About NOVAA

At NOVAA, we go beyond accounting. We're Canada's leading partner for CFO services, financial strategy, bookkeeping, and corporate tax planning — designed for fast-growth companies ready to scale smarter.

Our philosophy is simple: we act as an extension of your business. By combining deep financial expertise with modern technology, we bring clarity, structure, and confidence to every stage of growth. Whether you need the strategic insight of a Fractional CFO or the precision of real-time bookkeeping and tax planning, we ensure you have the tools and guidance to grow faster and stronger.

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Accountant who thrives in a dynamic, client-focused environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional financial insight and service.

You will play a key role in managing financial reporting, ensuring compliance, and supporting clients through accurate, data-driven financial leadership. Working closely with our Managers and Partners, you'll help fast-growth companies make informed financial decisions with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all accounting records, financial data, and supporting documentation are accurate, up to date, and compliant with accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes within reporting deadlines for assigned clients.
  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and MD&As, providing insights and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Manage the preparation and delivery of:

  • Financial audits

  • Corporate and personal tax returns
  • Sales tax returns
  • Insurance policy renewals

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental budgets

  • Collaborate with Managers and Partners to build strong, trust-based client relationships.
  • Provide mentorship and review work from junior accounting staff when needed.

What You Bring

  • CPA designation
  • 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a public accounting or advisory firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and tax preparation (corporate and personal).
  • Proficiency with cloud-based accounting tools (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Xero) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-first mindset — you take pride in delivering clarity and value.

Why Join NOVAA

  • Be part of a modern, tech-driven accounting firm redefining how businesses experience finance.
  • Collaborate with talented professionals and entrepreneurs across Canada.
  • Competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing professional development.
  • A culture that values growth, innovation, and partnership — we win when our clients win.
