Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled CAD Technician and Product designer to join our engineering and design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and schematics using industry-standard CAD software. (Solidworks is the only system accepted) The CAD Technician will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and project managers to develop accurate 3D models that support successful project execution.

Duties

  • Must be proficient in the use of Solidworks CAD system for part/assembly development (no other systems accepted)
  • Model 3D parts in CAD based on initial sections/sketches from Engineer/Customer
  • Create assemblies of models to verify design in Customer/Internal environment
  • Be able to assess clearance/interference checks between Wegu parts and others in assembly environment
  • Create detailed plastic parts including (but not limited to) wall thickness, parting lines, lifter/slide locations needed, clip/feature integration, die draw direction, draft angles based on ejection needs/graining, and clearance requirements to surrounding parts
  • General analysis for part stack-up conditions for features within the part and to surrounding/mating components
  • Develop general locating scheme of the plastic part based on the needs of the part and surrounding environment in terms of 4-way, 2-way control
  • Create "typical" 2D drawings of 3D parts to communicate dimensioning scheme to suppliers, critical notes/features, and general information
  • Understand and apply GD&T as needed, along with standard dimensioning/tolerancing for successful part/assembly control
  • Provide input for new innovation/cost-saving ideas based on current/prospective plastic parts
  • Communicate pros/cons of subject part when compared to benchmark parts
  • Be able to thrive in working with various team members whose backgrounds include Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Industrial, and Operations
  • Experience
  • Proven experience with CAD drafting
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks)
  • Strong understanding of schematics, technical drafting standards, and construction documentation processes
  • Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to meet project deadlines
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in drafting and modeling to ensure high-quality deliverables

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.92-$35.33 per hour
