Position Overview:

Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimator prepares accurate and competitive cost estimates by reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid requirements and completing quantity take-offs. This role includes obtaining supplier and subcontractor pricing and developing detailed cost breakdowns for labour, equipment, and materials. The Estimator works closely with operations to develop practical, cost-effective solutions and prepares and submits bids. Organized record-keeping and attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project drawings, specifications, addendums, and bid requirements to understand scope and risks.
  • Prepare and organize pre-bid documentation and perform accurate quantity take-offs.
  • Research material, labour, and equipment pricing and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing breakdowns in accordance with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations to develop practical, competitive, and cost-effective project solutions.
  • Prepare, review, and submit bids within required deadlines.
  • Attend bid openings and pre-construction meetings as required.
  • Perform all other tasks that support accurate estimating and successful project execution.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • 2+ years of relevant experience (construction or trades industry preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, scopes of work, and technical specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to build, manage, and analyze spreadsheets.
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
  • Ability to meet bid deadlines and perform well under time constraints
  • Willingness to learn estimating software, internal systems, and company processes

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
