Thurston Machine Co Ltd. is seeking a Project Estimator to join their team. The Project Estimator will be responsible for completing customer quotations on projects and components as required utilizing assistance from other team members, outside vendors, and personal knowledge of manufacturing processes. The Estimators are to provide excellent customer service ensuring that all potential customers are satisfied.

**Major Responsibilities**
- Analyse and thoroughly review customer specifications and drawings to ensure manufacturability and quote accuracy
- Generate quotations utilizing TMC’s forms and templates while keeping electronic records of all steps of the quotation process
- Estimate material and labour costs based on history, TMC standards, and industry / manufacturing knowledge for fabrication, welding, machining (CNC and Manual lathes and mills), inspection, industrial coatings, and mechanical assembly
- Generate quote submission forms for customers that look professional and clearly label quoted deviations / challenges
- Complete contract reviews and communicate with the customer once an order is received prior to the handoff with the production team
- Participate in kick-off meetings and production handoff meetings as required
- Follow up with submitted quotations with potential customers and provide feedback to the General Manager as required
- Schedule shop tours with Production Manager as needed
- Complete “cold-calls” and generate new sales leads as needed
- Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the TMC Code of Business Conduct.
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

**Skills/Qualifications**:
**Knowledge**:Knows and understands:

- Company and project safety programs
- Occupational health & safety and environmental issues
- WSIB and insurance provisions. (or equivalent)
- Employment standards and company policies

**Skills**: Has the ability to:

- Maintain strong working relationships with team members, clients, and subcontractor / vendors
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for negotiation and presentations
- Ability to use historical data to develop bid-win strategies and lead bid-win strategy meetings
- Expert in understanding bid processes and contract terms and the ability to identify contract risks and opportunities
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of different manufacturing methods, planning, scheduling, and sequencing
- Handle the administrative duties of the position, including completion of required documents

**Qualifications**:

- Previous estimating experience preferred in industrial manufacturing
- 5 years of experience in heavy industrial manufacturing (fabrication, machining, or assembly)
- Working knowledge of CAD, and Microsoft office software
- Asset
- possess a degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or equivalent work experience
- Valid and clean driver’s license

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
