The Marketing Strategist, Advancement & Alumni Relations is a key member of the Campaign Marketing & Communications team. This role strengthens NAIT's fundraising and alumni engagement efforts and plays a central part in the institution-wide Campaign.
Reporting to the Director, Campaign Marketing and Communications, the strategist provides dedicated marketing leadership to the Advancement and Alumni Relations teams. They support day-to-day portfolio needs while ensuring all donor and alumni marketing is aligned with broader Campaign goals and audience strategies.
This role leads audience targeting, segmentation, event marketing strategy, donor and alumni journey development, and clear, purposeful communication. Working closely with Advancement Alumni Relations, and the wider MarCom team, the strategist develops and executes integrated marketing plans that deepen alumni engagement, strengthen donor cultivation, and reinforce NAIT's long-term philanthropic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Development, Project Planning, and Client Management
- Provide strategic marketing counsel to Advancement and Alumni Relations, supporting daily portfolio needs and aligning all work to Campaign priorities.
- Translate Advancement and Alumni goals into clear, targeted marketing strategies that consider donor motivations, alumni lifecycle stages, audience insights, and reputation considerations.
- Build integrated marketing plans that strengthen donor cultivation, alumni engagement, event attendance, and overall Campaign activation.
- Lead audience targeting and segmentation for donor and alumni groups; develop objectives, messaging frameworks, and value propositions grounded in Campaign goals.
- Apply donor and alumni insights, CRM data (Salesforce/Salesforce Ascend), and lifecycle models to design personalized journeys and engagement plans.
- Support annual giving through core messaging, audience strategy, and anchor content that aligns with Campaign positioning.
- Collaborate with Communications, Creative Services, Web, Digital, and external consultants to ensure cross-channel content and messaging are coordinated, accurate, and aligned across all touchpoints.
- Collaborate with fundraisers and Alumni Relations staff on event marketing strategies that deepen engagement and increase attendance.
- Seek, analyze, and apply market research to inform strategies and identify opportunities across paid, earned, and owned channels.
- Manage marketing budgets for donor and alumni initiatives and prepare clear plans for execution.
Execution and Optimization
- Lead the execution of donor and alumni marketing campaigns across email, web, social, paid digital, and print channels.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality donor and alumni-facing assets on time and on budget.
- Develop and edit clear, concise content for donor and alumni audiences, including event promotions, Campaign updates, and stewardship materials.
- Analyze and optimize campaigns to ensure budget efficiency, timely engagement, and measurable impact.
- Use data and behavioural insights to refine segmentation, creative direction, timing, and channel mix.
- Regularly review in-market campaigns and adjust strategies in real time to improve performance.
Reporting and Analysis
- Monitor KPIs related to donor engagement, alumni activation, event attendance, and Campaign performance.
- Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, reporting dashboards, social platform analytics) to gather, interpret, and communicate data.
- Develop insights that improve segmentation, timing, message relevance, and channel mix across donor and alumni audiences.
- Share findings with internal partners and recommend data-driven improvements to marketing strategies.
Skills & Abilities:
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to gather information, analyze problems, and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead integrated marketing initiatives for segmented or relationship-driven audiences (e.g., donors, alumni, B2B, community).
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to tailor clear, purposeful messages for specific audiences.
- Ability to create content for a variety of media including web, email, promotional materials, and campaign assets.
- Experience using personalization, behavioural data, and segmentation in marketing strategies.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information for multiple audience types.
- Understanding of privacy legislation and cybersecurity considerations relevant to donor and alumni communications.
- Experience developing and executing multi-touch campaigns across digital, out-of-home, print, and audio channels.
- Experience with paid advertising platforms including Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
- Experience with Google search and display advertising, SEO best practices, and email marketing automation.
- Uses generative AI tools responsibly to support content development, audience insights, and campaign optimization, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality deliverables aligned with NAIT's brand and privacy standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in marketing, communications, business, or a related field. A combination of marketing experience and education will be considered.
- Minimum five years' experience developing and executing strategic marketing plans across multiple channels.
- Experience in Advancement, fundraising, alumni engagement, non-profit, or relationship-driven marketing is an asset.
- Experience working with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Salesforce Ascend) to inform audience segmentation and engagement strategies is an asset.

Remuneration: $84, $ 112,153.60 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
