We're looking for a Junior Accountant who's eager to grow, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is ready to tackle challenges head-on and participate in financial operations. This role is perfect for those seeking hands-on experience in accounting with the desire to become a controller ready in any tech companies.

You'll be joining a nimble, high-energy team where your voice matters. This is your chance to learn from experienced CFOs and financial leaders while honing your skills in a fast-paced, office work environment.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own Financial operations for tech startup that with 1mil to 50mil in funding and typically 10-50 headcounts. Which include payments, reporting to CEO, invoice management, budget etc.
  • Assist in monthly closing procedures, including journal entries and working with usual payment, payroll and cap table tools. Thing of Carta, Ramp, Xero and other payment/banking partners.
  • Help with year-end compilation engagements across diverse industries on smaller files. Prepare and file T1s, T2s, T4s, T5s, and HST returns as well as US tax compliance returns, including US state sales tax, franchise tax filing. Sometimes as part of larger CFO mandates.
  • Work with international structure and be the anchor finance person for various prominent crypto project and tech startups.
  • Collaborate with team leaders to accomplish tasks and meet tight deadlines including investor relations, FP&A, board presentations.

What We're Looking For

  • A degree in accounting from Waterloo, York (Schulich), UfT (Rotman), Western, Queens, Ryerson, Brock, with the CPA exam passed or plan on writing the CFE.
  • 1-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting with a proven track record and excellent recommendations.
  • A sharp, analytical mind with killer problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication abilities and a detail-oriented approach and follow instructions on more complex task.
  • Familiarity with accounting firms and operations a big plus (timesheet, billable, month-end rush etc)
  • The ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize, and crush deadlines.
  • Someone who is ready to work hard and commit to excellence and take feedback to grow.

We test our candidate on communication and do serious reference and background check as part of our process. This role is in person at our Downtown office at 325 Front Street, Toronto.
