Position Summary: Prepares and cooks pastries and desserts for the restaurant and for special occasions, conferences and other functions in a manner consistent with a superior dining facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

:

· Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity

· Prepares and cooks items for pasty dessert items for breakfast, lunch and dinner

· Sets up line for the lunch buffet when required and cooks all menu items on a daily basis

· Work in and maintain a clean environment

· Follow Lais Hotel Properties' standards for food preparation

· Assists in the preparation of stocks and soups as required under the direction of the Executive Sous Chef

· All other duties as assigned

· Having a thorough knowledge of Lais Hotel Properties' products and services

· Suggesting additional products and services meeting our guests' specific preferences

Technical/Managerial/Administrative Requirements:

· Basic knowledge of WHMIS is considered an asset

· Standard first aid is considered an asset

· Ability to work under minimal supervision

· Understand and practice of safe food handling

Professional Requirements:

· Grade 12 or equivalent experience

· Theoretical training at a community college in a cook apprenticeship program for one year and 6000 hours of in-house on-the-job training under certified Chef or equivalent experience of 3-5 years

· Excellent eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills for cutting, chopping and arrangement of meals on plate

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Current Safe Food Handler's Certificate

· Previous up-selling and/or sales experience is considered an asset

· Basic literacy skills

Physical Requirements:

· Bending and lifting in excess of 50 lbs

· Able to stand for long periods of time

· Able to work in a hot environment

· Work in a safe and responsible manner

· Constant interruptions and noisy atmosphere make concentration difficult at times
