About Barn Angels
Barn Angels Composting Inc. is a rapidly growing, provincially recognized animal end-of-life services company operating across Ontario. We provide compassionate, environmentally responsible after-care for animals of all sizes and are actively expanding our services, facilities, and internal teams.
We are entering a critical growth phase and are seeking an Executive Operations Lead / Chief of Staff to work directly with ownership and help build the operational structure required for long-term scale.
The Role
This is a builder role for someone who thinks like an owner.
You will begin with a hands-on onboarding phase, including direct exposure to client communication and daily operations. This phase is intentional and time-bound—designed to give you a deep understanding of the business so you can design systems, hire people, and lead effectively.
The long-term mandate of this role is not administrative execution, but to build the systems and teams so leadership no longer needs to be in the weeds.
What Success Looks Like
- You understand every operational touchpoint in the business
- Systems are documented, efficient, and scalable
- The right people are hired, trained, and accountable
- Ownership time is protected and focused on growth
- You operate as a trusted extension of leadership
Key ResponsibilitiesPhase 1: Learn & Assess (Hands-On)
- Engage directly with client communications to understand workflows and service standards
- Learn all services, pricing structures, and operational processes
- Observe and document gaps, inefficiencies, and risks
- Build trust with internal teams through presence and competence
Phase 2: Build & Structure
- Design and implement operational workflows and standards
- Recruit, interview, and hire administrative and operational staff
- Create training materials, scripts, and accountability systems
- Introduce or improve systems and tools (CRM, scheduling, documentation, reporting)
Phase 3: Lead & Scale
- Oversee administrative and operational functions
- Participate in weekly leadership and CFO meetings
- Track compliance, timelines, and operational readiness
- Support expansion initiatives and service launches
- Act as a strategic partner to ownership
Required Experience & Profile
We are seeking someone who:
- Has a strong corporate, operations, or executive support background
- Has experience building or improving systems and processes
- Is comfortable being hands-on initially to gain mastery
- Demonstrates excellent organization, judgment, and follow-through
- Communicates clearly, confidently, and professionally
- Thrives in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
- This role requires maturity, discretion, and resilience.
Authority & Leadership Expectations
This role carries real authority and accountability. The Executive Operations Lead / Chief of Staff will:
- Hire, onboard, manage, and (when necessary) terminate staff
- Take ownership of operational decisions currently handled by ownership
- Lead teams, set expectations, and hold people accountable to performance standards
- Gradually assume responsibility for day-to-day operations so ownership can focus on strategy, partnerships, and growth
This role is designed to grow into full operational ownership, not remain in a support capacity.
Compensation & Growth
- Starting salary: $60,000 CAD
- Compensation reflects initial scope and is expected to increase as systems are implemented and responsibility grows
- Structured reviews with opportunity for accelerated growth based on execution and results
This role is designed to grow significantly as the company scales.
Work Structure
- Full-time, salaried position
- Hybrid structure following onboarding
- On-site presence required initially to learn operations
- Flexibility required during growth phases
Final Note
This is not a traditional executive assistant role.
It is an opportunity to help build the operational backbone of a growing company, earn trust through understanding, and step into a leadership position with real influence.
If you are motivated by responsibility, execution, and long-term growth—and are willing to learn before leading—we would like to hear from you.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume along with a brief cover note outlining:
- Your experience improving or scaling operations
- Why a hands-on onboarding phase does not deter you
- What attracts you to a growth-stage company
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
