The Opportunity
Support the safe and effective prescribing function for MedExpress' Canadian expansion, with an initial focus on BC, Alberta and Ontario, you will be supporting our Nurse Practitioners to provide safe, compliant and efficient care.

What You'll Do

• Provide support to fellow prescribers, including a team on Nurse Practitioners
• Use the MedExpress platform to clinically review and assess asynchronous patient consultations and if safe, prescribe medications (initially GLP1s and ED Tx) in line with our protocols and guidance.
• Assess patient side effects and provide clinical support as needed
• Communicate directly with patients to address medical queries in a timely and professional manner.
• Document concise and comprehensive patient notes in English.
• Ensure safe prescribing practices and patient safety by raising escalations and flagging incidents appropriately
• Keep up to date with license requirements and any independent training to ensure clinical competency in respective areas of prescribing.
• Work closely with our Customer Support team to provide patient support via various means, including, but not limited to, online chat, phone call, or video consultation.
• Complete own work efficiently and in accordance with the designated rota
• Participate in clinical governance meetings to discuss treatment decisions, ensuring compliance with set protocols and pathways. Discuss complex cases with peers and the Medical Lead.

Essential
What you'll bring to HeliosX

• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Experience with remote prescribing or digital healthcare as a family, or internal medicine, physician
• Experience of multi disciplinary team working
• At least 3 years of active medical practice

Preferred

• Experience with medically managing obesity, particularly GLP1 prescribing.
• Experience with digital health platforms and customer service tools (e.g. Zendesk).
• Experience as a GP or in private healthcare settings.
• Experience of prescribing compound medication.
• Experience of managing clinical teams, particularly nurse practitioners

Skills

• Strong clinical acumen and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Attention to detail and a strong governance mindset.
• Flexible and pragmatic attitude, suited to the fast pace of a startup.
• Computer literacy and ability to work comfortably in digital workflows.

Registration requirements

• Provincial Medical Licence (Active), in at least one of the following

• Ontario → CPSO

• British Columbia → CPSBC

• Alberta → CPSA

• Certification by a National College

• CCFP – College of Family Physicians of Canada or

• FRCP(C) or FRCPC – Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

• Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (national credential)

• CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) Membership

• Active clinical category

• Active health plan billing number
