Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Operations Coordinator/Freight Admin will manage freight billing, carrier relationships, shipment documentation, and freight cost optimization within our Central Distribution Centre (CDC).


Key Responsibilities
Freight Billing & Audit
  • Verify freight invoices against quotes and actual shipments.
  • Resolve discrepancies with carriers and ensure accurate billing.
  • Audit shipments through WISL and submit approved invoices to Accounts Payable.
WISL System Management
  • Become the CDC's subject-matter expert in WISL.
  • Load and update freight rates in the system.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot WISL as required.
Shipment Documentation & Compliance
  • Prepare and issue commercial invoices.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed and attached to shipments.
  • Arrange PAPS with carriers and customs brokers.
  • Set up new carriers when needed.
Carrier Coordination & Issue Resolution
  • Manage day-to-day communication and problem resolution with carriers.
  • Obtain quotes for special or expedited shipments.
  • File and follow up on freight claims.
  • Support the DOO with the Carrier Report Card and SLA tracking.
Freight Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze freight costs and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
  • Provide weekly freight status reports to management.
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies within CDC freight operations.
  • Assist the DOO with branch freight analysis (courier selection, spend analysis, own truck/driver comparisons, etc.).
Education and Training required

.
• Post-secondary education, ideally in Transportation/Logistics, or Operations an asset.

• Have excellent communication and organizational habits.

• Have superior skill levels in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

• Work with minimal supervision.

• Enjoy working in a busy environment, and want to take on more responsibilities.

Experience Required: 

2-3-year previous experience, preferably within the distribution industry.
