Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada's only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As a Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) with Trans Mountain, you'll have the opportunity to work with a progressive and fast-paced group of Human Resources professionals. This is a full-time in office contract position based in our Calgary Head Office.

Reporting to the Manager, HR Business Relationship and Support, the Senior HRBP will provide a broad range of HR expertise, counsel and guidance to our business that engages our workforce in achieving our business objective. Working in a fast-paced and continuously evolving environment, you will be a strategic thought partner to leaders and teams in the areas of workforce planning, engagement and culture, human capital risk assessment and mitigation, talent management and employee relations. You will support our workforce in both office and field locations. This position will also be responsible for assisting to plan, execute, and finalize HR projects according to strict deadlines. This role requires a blend of HR expertise and project management skills to ensure the successful delivery of HR initiatives that align with the company's strategic goals and organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior leaders to develop and implement HR strategies that support business goals. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations and company policies.
  • Provide expert advice on HR matters, including talent management, organizational development, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Provide proactive support to the business to ensure continued alignment of organizational structures and resourcing plans.
  • Analyze HR metrics and data to identify trends and develop solutions to improve employee engagement and retention.
  • Facilitate change management processes and support leaders in driving organizational change.
  • Collaborate with HR centers of excellence (e.g., recruitment, total rewards, learning and development, IDEA) to deliver integrated HR solutions.
  • Collaborate and co-lead HR projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and in consideration of all HR elements.
  • Support the development of detailed project plans, including timelines and milestones in line with the HR Manager's direction and resource allocation. This will include assisting with preparing project status updates, tracking and results, as required.
  • Ensure that employee relations matters are handled skillfully and in accordance with best practices.

Qualifications and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPHR designation strongly preferred.
  • 7 - 10 years related experience in a human resources generalist/HRBP capacity.

  • In-depth knowledge of HR practices, policies, and employment laws.

  • Strong business acumen and ability to align HR project work with business objectives.

  • Experience in providing HR support to both office and field workforces is preferred.

  • Knowledge of best practices in workforce planning, employee relations, talent management and organizational effectiveness.
  • Highly skilled in relationship-building, being influential, and acting as a trusted thought partner business leaders.
  • Project planning and project management capabilities
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly changing project environment, with an ability to navigate a degree of ambiguity while demonstrating sound judgment and decision-making.

  • Proven experience and knowledge of HR practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of products.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Other Requirements and Information

  • May need to provide support outside of regular business hours and/or on the weekend.
  • Some travel to various site locations may be required.
