Job Code: Cargo Security Screening- Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

Location: Vancouver, BC

Compensation package: Start $18.54 after 3 months $19.57/ hour

Duties:

  • Successful candidates will need to have a valid British Columbia Security Guard license, as well as a clear criminal record and be able to pass extensive background screening
  • Successful Candidates must be willing to work up to 12 hr day and/or night shifts, weekdays, weekends and holidays. Candidates must have reliable transportation to get to and from the airport site as public transit is not available for all shift times. Candidates must be willing to perform a variety of duties including: sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; complete detailed incident reports; respond to alarms, threats and other emergencies; provide customer service; provide access control to restricted areas
  • Successful Candidates will be required to manipulate items up to 35 kg at a time as required by positional legislation

Skills Required:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills while being alert and detail oriented
  • Ability to exercise vigilance and multi task is required (Ability to prioritize, remain calm and multi-task under pressure in a dynamic environment)
  • Proficient in using technology
  • Experience in proper search techniques.
  • Ability to effectively generate all relevant shift reports and distribute in a timely manner
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English

The Ideal Candidate:

  • BC Security Guard license
  • Clear Criminal Record
  • Must be able to obtain Restricted Area Clearance (RAIC)
  • Effective Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Must be able to move, shift, manipulate, 35kg at a time
  • Must be able to stand, sit, walk, patrol for extended periods of time hours)
  • Must be comfortable with working in both outdoors (when necessary) and indoors
