Duties
- Lead and manage the automotive service department, setting high standards for quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee daily shop operations, including scheduling technicians, assigning work orders, and monitoring workflow to maximize productivity.
- Ensure all vehicle repairs and maintenance services—such as oil changes, brake repairs, transmissions, alignments, suspension work, tire services, diesel engine repairs, shocks & struts, air brake systems, and auto body repairs—are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics and repair procedures to support technicians and ensure quality standards are met.
- Drive upselling efforts by identifying additional services or repairs that benefit the customer while increasing shop revenue.
- Manage service writing and auto estimating processes to provide clear communication with customers regarding work scope and costs.
- Handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining proper documentation for all financial activities.
- Foster excellent customer service by addressing client concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive experience from start to finish.
- Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and conducting regular inspections of tools and equipment.
- Collaborate with sales teams to support automobile sales initiatives through effective service solutions and vehicle presentation.
- Monitor inventory levels for parts and supplies necessary for efficient operation of the service department.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technical advancements in automotive repair to continuously enhance service offerings.
Qualifications
- Proven dealership or automotive service management experience with a strong background in auto repair operations.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, transmissions, oil changes, brake systems, alignments, suspensions, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, air brakes, and auto body repairs.
- Hands-on experience as a mechanic or service technician is highly desirable to understand technical challenges firsthand.
- Demonstrated ability in upselling services while maintaining integrity and customer trust.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for clear service writing, estimating, and customer interactions.
- Familiarity with auto estimating software and dealership management systems is preferred.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining detailed records.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with excellent organizational skills to oversee daily shop operations smoothly.
