Automation Technician (Greenhouse Systems)

Role Overview

Gryphon Automation is seeking an Automation Technician to support, maintain, and improve greenhouse automation systems. This is a hands-on role focused on keeping environmental, irrigation, and control systems running efficiently, safely, and reliably to support plant health and production.

You'll work closely with growers, engineers, and operations to troubleshoot issues, perform maintenance, and assist with automation improvements across greenhouse facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain greenhouse automation systems
  • Support environmental controls (climate, lighting, irrigation, fertigation)
  • Monitor automated processes and troubleshoot faults or alarms
  • Assist with system testing, commissioning, and updates
  • Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on sensors and control equipment
  • Document procedures, changes, and issues
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Escalate complex issues to engineering or senior technical staff

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with automation, controls, or technical systems
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs, sensors, actuators, or control equipment
  • Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in greenhouse or agricultural environments
  • Good communication and documentation skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with greenhouse or agricultural automation
  • PLC exposure (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.)
  • Electrical or mechanical background
  • Experience with environmental control or irrigation systems
  • Technical diploma, certification, or equivalent experience

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
