Job Title: Constuction Equipment Operator

Company: Leisnoi Diversified Services, LLC

Location/Site: Ottawa, Illinois

Reports to: Project Manager

Employment Status:   Full-Time

Summary:

The Construction Equipment Operator is responsible for performing routine equipment checks and maintenance, loading and unloading equipment and ensures sites are kept clean.  In addition, observes the movement of earthwork and completes relevant paperwork and reports.  To be successful as an Equipment Operator must be able to consistently follow health and safety regulations and be able to take instructions from superiors.  Outstanding Equipment Operators should display great hand and foot coordination and always be thinking of ways to improve efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Must be able to operate backhoe, excavator, bulldozer, skid steer, and vibratory rollerEnsures all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulationsClean, lubricate, and perform regular safety checks on equipmentEnsures equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off or loading and unloading itTrains new crew members in the safe operation of equipmentPerforms other construction duties as assignedObserves the safe distribution of concrete and other materialsPromptly reports all faults to the Site SupervisorEnsures sites are kept clean and safeAttends meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operationIdentifys faults and troubleshooting equipment as requiredOther job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalentRelevant license and safety certificationsClean driving recordPrior experience operating equipmentMust be able to operate backhoe, excavator, bulldozer, skid steer, and vibratory roller

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of safety requirementsAbility to follow orders, especially under pressureExcellent teamwork and interpersonal skillsAbility to adhere to strict deadlinesA sound understanding of health and safety codesA positive outlook and a willingness to learnA completed apprenticeship program would be advantageous 

Physical Demands

Individuals must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of workday and capability to move within the field.  Any person in this position needs the ability to operate any field equipment used within the Construction Industry. There is a requirement to traverse multiple terrain types in outdoor weather conditions along with the ability to position self in a stoop, kneel, or crouch position.  Individuals must be able to wear full construction PPE and have ability to enter confined spaces.
