Material Receiver

Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada Mahler Machining Ltd Full time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm
About the Role Mahler Machining is hiring a Material Receiver & Saw Operator to work directly on the shop floor preparing raw material for CNC machining. This is a hands-on manufacturing support role involving regular operation of automated and traditional bandsaws, material handling, and material receiving, with close coordination alongside machinists and production teams. This role reports to the Shop Foreman.   We are hiring for attitude and long-term potential. While prior experience is valued, we are equally happy to train motivated candidates seeking an entry-level opportunity in a manufacturing environment.   As an AS9100 aerospace-certified manufacturer, Mahler takes material traceability seriously. The Material Receiver & Saw Operator is responsible for maintaining full material traceability by verifying material certifications, recording heat and lot information, and updating our ERP system to support aerospace-grade quality requirements and ensure 100% traceability. This role requires strong coordination with machinists and the purchasing team, making clear communication and teamwork essential.   The Material Receiver & Saw Operator plays a vital role in our organization. As a supply chain partner to over 100 Canadian and US OEM customers, we operate in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Candidates must be comfortable adapting to changing priorities and working collaboratively with the broader shop team.   Approximately two-thirds of the role is focused on material receiving and saw operation. The remaining time is spent supporting production activities on the shop floor, including assisting machinists, finishing, and shipping as needed. In addition to receiving and saw work, this role supports light manufacturing activities such as material movement, basic finishing support, and general shop assistance. Regular forklift operation is required as part of the role with training and certification provided as required.   This is an ideal role for someone who wants to be involved in how parts are made, not just moved, and is seeking a stable, long-term career with a growing company. As Mahler continues to expand, there will be opportunities for advancement into shipping, production, or other manufacturing support roles.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate automated and manual horizontal bandsaws to cut raw material to size prior to CNC machining
  • Receive raw material into the ERP system, verifying material type, size, and heat/lot information against purchase orders and certifications
  • Maintain full material traceability in accordance with AS9100 requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe saw room, including raw material for active work orders and general stock
  • Move raw material throughout the shop to required production locations including use of a forklift and pallet jacks
  • Support production activities on the shop floor, including assisting machinists and finishing as needed
  • Assist the shipping department with packaging and preparing orders for customer delivery when required
  • Participate in basic equipment maintenance and general shop support activities
  • With training, provide coverage for the Shipping Manager during vacations or absences, including preparing shipping documents and arranging courier deliveries
  • Drive the company vehicle for customer deliveries and pickups when required
  Requirements
  • 1–2 years in a manufacturing, warehouse or shop environment
  • Class 5 driver's licence
  • Physically able to lift and move heavy objects
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Safety‑conscious and able to follow instructions
  • Comfortable working in a busy, loud production environment
  • Candidates should review our core values before applying: https://mahler-
  Compensation and Benefits
  • $20–25/hr with opportunities for overtime
  • Extended health and dental benefits, plus health and lifestyle spending accounts
  • Life insurance and disability insurance
  • Paid vacation starting at 2 weeks, increasing to 3 weeks at 5 years
  • Discretionary annual bonus based on individual and company performance
  • Employee uniforms and safety equipment
  • Safety boot allowance
  • Company events and offsites
