Test Technician Lead

Summary:
The Test Technician Lead will take a leadership role in conducting advanced preventative and corrective maintenance of electronic equipment. This position involves diagnosing and troubleshooting complex circuit problems, as well as mentoring junior technicians. The Lead will apply advanced theoretical and practical knowledge to install, rebuild, or repair electronic equipment. This role also includes making strategic recommendations for equipment improvement and leading technical initiatives.
Job Duties:
- Lead and oversee production line testing of electronic products, ensuring adherence to high-quality standards.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex malfunctioning electronic circuitry, guiding junior technicians in best practices.
- Perform advanced bench repairs on electronic and electromechanical assemblies, including intricate and high-risk components.
- Identify, repair, and replace critical electrical components, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Recommend and implement strategic modifications or replacements of electrical equipment to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Maintain, calibrate, and improve testing equipment and protocols, ensuring reliability.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the team.
- Manage tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring availability and readiness for all jobs.
- Establish and maintain a high level of standardization and consistency in all operations.
- Mentor and train junior technicians, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Stay current with industry trends and participate in advanced training opportunities.
- Lead and manage multiple overlapping projects, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
- Perform other leadership duties as required.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of component-level electronics with proven troubleshooting expertise.
- Completion of advanced college/vocational or technical training in electronics, with continuous professional development.
- Minimum 5+ years of related work experience in a senior or leadership capacity.
- Strong commitment to accuracy, detail-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience in reporting and documentation.
- Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated leadership and self-starter abilities.
- Expert knowledge and experience with hand tools and specialized electronic equipment.
- Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively, with a proven track record in team mentorship.
- Advanced knowledge of RF, high voltage, analog, and digital components.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to oversee safety compliance and implement best practices across projects.
Work Conditions:
- Lead work in environments requiring the use of a variety of hand and power tools.
- Ensure proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (e.g., hard-hat, safety boots, etc.).
- Ability to lead teams in physically demanding conditions, including standing, crouching, bending, reaching, and stooping for long periods.
- Requires excellent manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
- Lifting up to 40 pounds required at times.
- Engage in regular interaction with management, clients, and team members.
- Willingness to work overtime as required, with flexibility to manage urgent tasks.
