Position Overview
As anRSS Control Unit Technician at Pacesetter Directional, you will play a key role in supporting the operation, maintenance, and diagnostics of Rotary Steerable System (RSS) control units. In this hands-on technical role, you'll work directly with cutting-edge downhole steering technology, helping drive the next generation of drilling performance.
You will be responsible for assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring the reliability of the RSS control unit before deployment to the field. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented technician who enjoys solving problems, working with advanced electronics and software, and contributing to an innovative team at the forefront of the drilling industry.
Responsibilities
- Performs hands-on assembly, testing, or repair of RSS Control Units according to specifications.
- Operates specialized tools and equipment safely and accurately.
- Follows daily production schedules, completing assigned tasks efficiently and on time.
- Conducts quality checks on components and finished units, identifying and reporting defects.
- Works closely with team members, supporting a smooth and coordinated workflow.
- Receives direction from the lead or supervisor, ensuring alignment with daily goals.
- Assists in troubleshooting control unit issues, escalating technical problems as needed.
- Maintains a clean and organized workstation.
- Documents production data, such as test results, defects, and completed work.
- Supports training of new team members, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Communicates effectively with coworkers to ensure accurate handoffs and minimize errors.
- Monitors material usage, notifying lead of any shortages or inconsistencies.
- Adheres to safety procedures, including use of PPE and equipment lockout/tagout when necessary.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities, offering suggestions for process or product enhancements.
- After hours on call
Education, Experience, Technical Qualifications
- High School diploma required
- Experience in a warehouse or shop environment would be a definite asset
- Valid driver's license
