Civil Designer / Estimator
to join our growing Infrastructure Group.
This is a
remote position
, ideal for a technically strong and business-minded professional who can support
civil design
,
estimating
,
project coordination
, and
business development
from anywhere, while working within Vancouver (PST) hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare civil designs, drawings, and models using
AutoCAD
and
Civil 3D - Complete stormwater management, water, wastewater, subdivision, and land development design
- Prepare erosion & sediment control plans
- Conduct virtual field review coordination and support site inspection documentation
- Perform
quantity takeoffs
, cost estimates, and assist with tender submissions - Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities
- Support proposals, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and project documentation
- Communicate professionally with clients, consultants, suppliers, and municipalities
- Assist in identifying new project opportunities and contribute to
business growth - Represent MJL Engineering in meetings with confidence, clarity, and technical competence
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BASc/BEng)
— Required - 2+ years of civil design experience
(preferred) - Experience in estimating or project coordination is an asset
- Fluency in English
(written and verbal) is mandatory - Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and knowledge of municipal/land development standards
