Job Overview
HR Nook is partnering with a client in the pyrotechnics industry to recruit a Senior Accountant to join their team.
Our client is a growing manufacturing organization that produces specialized products for both commercial and industrial markets. Operations are based in the Edwardsburg-Cardinal area. The company is focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence, with an emphasis on lean manufacturing principles. As the business continues to expand, they are seeking a Senior Accountant / Accounting Leader to support and strengthen the financial function.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily accounting operations including AP, AR, and GL entries.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes with complete, accurate and timely financial statements.
- Maintain and improve standard costing models; analyze variances and support continuous improvement.
- Support all inventory accounting, including reconciliations, adjustments, cycle counts, and physical inventory support.
- Partner with manufacturing and supply chain teams to understand cost drivers and operational implications.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and audit requirements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement efficiency enhancements, including ERP improvements or workflow upgrades.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to leadership to support decision-making.
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff (if applicable).
- Support organizational capability development by documenting procedures, improving reporting, and enhancing financial literacy across departments.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
- A Bachelor's degree from a recognized postsecondary institution with an acceptable specialization in accounting, business, commerce or a related field.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and production workflows.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience working within an ERP environment (Epicor preferred).
- Excellent attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interpret financial data and communicate clearly with non-financial stakeholders.
