Overview
The Operational Director, Clinical Services provides strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and direction to the Health Clinic and Urban Services (Complex Care House, Scotty's House, Street Angels). This position works to ensure all programs within the Ktunaxa Nation Social Sector are culturally grounded, trauma informed, client centered and under each respective portfolio are delivered in accordance with professional practice standards, regulatory bodies, and relevant registered colleges (e.g. BCCNM, BCACC, BCPA, or equivalent).
As part of a team of professional dedicated to the well-being of Indigenous People; being innovative, flexible, organized and responsive to the needs of all clients, the Operational Director, Clinical Services works collaboratively and consultatively with the Ktunaxa First Nations, a network of community partners, and with local or provincial level services to ensure accessibility for Ktunaxa citizens and all Indigenous people. The Operational Director advocates for procedural or policy changes when services and mandates do no meet the needs of these individuals.
The Operational Director acts as the lead authority for clinical governance, policy alignment, and professional practice within the clinical programs of the Social Investment Sector. They are responsible for monitoring quality of care, mitigating risk, and ensuring the safety and well-being of clients, staff, and communities served. They provide opportunity for training and clinical supports to program supervisors and staff to meet the Ktunaxa Vision.
Responsibilities- Working with a variety of interdisciplinary teams, including but not limited to, Health Manager, Nurse Practitioners, CLBC, Clinicians, Psychiatrists, RCMP, ACN's, Interior Health Leadership Teams, Social Workers and other professionals for complex client access to appropriate services in a seamless and coordinated fashion.
- Provide ongoing analytical and clinical advisory support to the Social Sector Clinical Programs
- Holds clinical and delegated liability on all decision/consultation points.
- Direct supervision (training, coaching, mentoring) of site supervisors and staff.
- Develop program screening, intake forms, and clinical decision support tools
- Ensure social sector staff receive appropriate level training for job requirements with mechanisms for reporting/tracking.
- In collaboration with SIS site supervisors/managers develop process for staff performance evaluations with strategies for professional development plans.
- Complete performance evaluations with site supervisors and staff.
- Train staff and support in completing support plans
- When necessary complete various mental health, addictions, vulnerability assessments, referrals, advocacy
- Assist in developing, implement guidelines, policies, and procedures for each program area
- Record and analyze trends in this population to better research the demographics of this group of people and track and trend future patterns to meet reporting requirements as well as to facilitate responsive and preventative services.
- Managing challenging ethical decisions
- Maintain related records and statistics and produce reports as required

a. United Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples;
b. Truth and Reconciliation Commissions Calls to Action; and
c. Canadian Human Rights Tribunal Rulings.

Academic Preparation
Specialized Graduate Studies (Masters Degree)
Masters degree from an accredited educational institution in an Allied Health, Behavioural, or Social Science field relevant to the position
A Clinical Bachelor's degree with related experience will be considered.
Current registration in good standing with a recognized professional college (i.e. BCCNM, BCACC, BCASW, BCPA) is required
Past or current counselling experience within a First Nations context
Group facilitation experience in both traditional First Nations Approaches and mainstream approaches.
