ACSA's Financial Empowerment and Problem Solving (FEPS) program hosts an annual free Community Volunteer Income Tax Clinic during March and April. Our clients are individuals, couples, families, newcomers, students, seniors, and unhoused people who meet the CVITP eligibility criteria, most of whom reside in Scarborough. In 2025, our tax clinic volunteers prepared almost 2,000 tax returns for those living on a low income.

Year-round, the FEPS program provides one-on-one support with tax filing and financial problem-solving. Education and public awareness regarding financial literacy are also offered to community members and organizations.

Who we are looking for:

We are accepting applications from candidates who will support our annual free tax clinic as a Tax Clinic Assistant. You will assist the Tax Clinic Coordinator and Tax Clinic Staff in executing a successful tax clinic by performing administrative, supervisory, and translation tasks.

You will work 5 days between Monday and Saturday out of the FEPS office at 4155 Sheppard Ave East and/or on-site at one or more of our three Scarborough locations in March and April 2025:

· Main site at 4155 Sheppard Ave East

· Chester Le Community Corner at 201 Chester Le Blvd

· Dorset Park Community Hub at 1911 Kennedy Rd

About the role:

You will be asked to provide administrative support to the tax clinic team. This includes:

· answering/returning clients' tax appointment calls

· conducting in-person and over the phone eligibility screening

· scheduling tax appointments; keeping detailed records of communications with clients; gathering statistics; making reminder calls,

· supporting clients on-site with completion of their intakes and/or providing language translation, when necessary,

· performing reception duties, and other administrative tasks as assigned by the Tax Clinic Coordinator.

About you:

· Must speak one of the following languages:Arabic, Spanish, Cantonese/Mandarin, Ukrainian, Farsi, Dari, or Pashto

· Eligible to register with CVITP and complete the trainings, as assigned by the Tax Clinic Coordinator

· Previous tax filing experience and eligibility to obtain EFile # are strongly preferred

· Have previous administrative experience; able to supervise and support admin volunteers

· Reliable, punctual, a quick learner and a self-starter; able to work independently or with minimal supervision within a fast-paced team environment

· Attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions

· Strong computer and accurate data entry skills; comfortable with Google, MS Office, and Teams applications

· Strong communication and organizational skills

· Understanding of the challenges experienced by low-income individuals; solid understanding of the importance of the confidentiality

· Awareness of, and sensitivity to, issues of poverty and homelessness

· Must provide police clearance
