AirMetal is a Canadian advanced manufacturing company building defence-grade drone and battery systems in Ottawa. We support Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) programs by establishing secure, resilient, and NDAA-aligned supply chains with a strong focus on Canadian content.
We are expanding our manufacturing operations and are looking for a hands-on Procurement & Logistics Manager / Senior Buyer to help build and operate our supply chain from the ground up.
The Role
This is a build-stage, execution-focused role. You will be responsible for placing purchase orders, expediting parts, managing suppliers, and coordinating logistics—while also helping define procurement processes and supplier strategies as the business scales.
You'll work closely with Production, Engineering, and Operations to ensure material availability supports daily and weekly production builds.
Key Responsibilities
Place and manage purchase orders for electronics, battery components, mechanical and composite parts, and manufacturing equipment.
Track open orders, manage lead times, and actively expedite critical components.
Support kitting and material readiness for production builds.
Source and onboard suppliers aligned with Canadian content and defence requirements.
Support RFQs, cost comparisons, and supplier negotiations.
Maintain supplier performance metrics.
Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics with couriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
Support compliance with Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and Dangerous Goods (UN38.3).
Maintain inventory levels, reorder points, and safety stock.
Support ERP/MRP purchasing and BOM accuracy.
Qualifications
Required:
4–7+ years of experience in procurement, buying, logistics, or supply chain roles.
Hands-on experience placing purchase orders and managing suppliers.
Experience with electronics or mechanical components.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Nice to Have:
Experience in defence, aerospace, UAVs, robotics, or advanced manufacturing.
Battery or lithium-ion logistics experience.
ERP/MRP system experience.
APICS, SCMP, or CPSM certification.
