We are currently seeking a Senior Property Manager to work from any of our office locations.

As a Senior Property Manager, reporting to the Senior Director of Property Management,  you will be an integral member of the Property Management Team responsible for, but not limited to, assisting in the management of the OAHS rental portfolio and Property Manager teams annual departmental and program budgets for funding delivery in specific funding agreement areas; maintaining operational strategies for cost-efficiencies, and tenant satisfaction; related to the delivery of Rural and Native Housing Program, the First Nation, Inuit and Metis Housing Program and Urban Native Housing Program as well as compliance with corporate policies and procedures The successful candidate will be a goal-oriented, organized, enthusiastic individual who understands and appreciates how safe, affordable housing contributes to the quality of life and serves as a stable foundation.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Support OAHS's mission and vision and make significant contributions to the achievement of the corporate strategic plan;

  • Assist in the development and management of the annual Rental Program budgets for funding delivery in specific funding agreement areas;

  • Maintain Operational strategies for cost efficiencies, and tenant satisfaction;

  • Ensure legislative compliance related to the delivery of Rural and Native Housing Program First Nations, Inuit and Metis Housing, and Urban Native Housing as well as operational and corporate policies and procedure compliance;

  • Oversee the management of the Property Managers as it pertains to OAHS rental portfolio;

  • Address operational problems and recommend alternatives to improve policy and program delivery;

  • Working with the Property Management Team to resolve operational problems that cross departmental lines;

  • Ensure Property Manager teams meet targets with regards to service quality, tenant satisfaction, cost efficiency, adherence to budget, and procurement;

  • Ensure delivery of various programs according to OAHS policies and procedures and program guidelines;

  • Direct and support the development of the Property Management team by providing leadership as well as learning and networking opportunities;

  • Supervise the delivery of integrated community programs;

  • Provide direct supervision to assigned managers and staff;

  • Assist the Senior Director of Property Management with the design and implementation of programs and processes to support our property management functions;

  • Provide leadership, training and coaching to employees within property management group;

  • Monitor budget on regular basis to ensure compliance with approved budget;

  • Review and approve business case requests;

  • Carryout staff performance evaluation and related processes;

  • Cover a Property Manager role when required;

  • Coordinating with Property Mangers all activities related to vacancies to ensure units are occupied efficiently;

  • Create weekly reporting for Property Managers;

  • Organize and develop training for Regional Property Management teams;

  • Other duties as required.

To qualify for this role, the successful candidate will have the following qualifications and skills: 

  • College Diploma or University Degree with a minimum 3-5 years of experience in property management (another combination of education and experience may be considered);

  • Extensive and progressive management experience in a large organization;

  • Knowledge of and an appreciation for Indigenous culture and demonstrated values that focus on assisting people;

  • Experience creating and managing budgets for a large, distributed organization;

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with staff, political representatives, consultants, contractors, residents, and the general public;

  • Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes;

  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills;

  • Chartered designation form the Chartered Institute of Housing is preferred or willingness to undertake and successfully complete these studies;

  • Familiar with the Landlord and Tenant Board, Residency Tenancy Act and Housing Services Act;

  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy;

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability;

  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, and prioritization;

  • Strong leadership and human resource management skills;

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use sound judgment;

  • Excellent knowledge of property management as related to Indigenous Housing programs;

  • Ability to communicate professionally using multiple channels with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external to the organization;

  • Ability to interpret legislation and implement policies and procedures;

  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles;

  • Ability to supervise in a non -unionized environment;

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, with a focus on quality. Accuracy and performance improvement;

  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member with a strong desire for continuous performance improvement;

  • Management experience within OAHS Property Management would be an asset.

  • Valid CPIC clearance (Criminal Records check);

  • Must be Bondable, if required;

  • Current, valid Ontario Driver's License and safe driving record.
