Job Opportunity:

The English Language Institute (ELI) at Renison University College invites applications for part-time/ sessional instructors within 2025 summer English language programs (June 25 – August 25)

Programs include:

  • English for Success (June 25 – July 22)
  • Intensive English for Academic Success (July 14 – August 22) or Intensive Bridge to Academic Success in English (July 7 – August 25).

 Courses entail 6-7 hours per week of in-class delivery.

Compensation is dependent on experience and course(s) taught. Pay ranges from $75-$100 per hour, inclusive of in-class delivery, prep time, marking, and meetings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend start of term meeting
  • Prepare for, and teach the course(s) specified using the curriculum provided, and create appropriate supplementary materials as necessary to support outcomes
  • Meet classes at the times and period specified
  • Be reasonably available to students for a period of time before/after class in order to answer questions and support learning
  • Collaborate with other instructors to ensure the smooth delivery of program material
  • Grade homework, tests, etc. and provide students with feedback in a timely manner
  • Maintain accurate records and send to the Assistant Director, ELI student attendance, progress and final grades as requested
  • Communicate student issues to the Assistant Director, ELI in a timely manner
  • Participate in curricular meetings as necessary
  • Attend/participate in end-of-term ceremony
  • Apply best teaching practices based on current knowledge in the field

Additionally, the incumbent will represent Renison in a manner consistent with the values, goals, and strategic directions of the University College.

  • TESL Ontario or TESL Canada certification
  • Candidates with a Master's in a relevant field will be given first consideration.
