Job Title:
Quality Assurance Specialist – Intermediate

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Specialist will promote a strong culture of quality across the organization by providing leadership and guidance on Quality Assurance matters to Project Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Services teams.

In this role, you will act as the
Quality Assurance Manager (QAM)
on low- to medium-complexity projects, ensuring project deliverables meet customer, contractual, regulatory, and organizational quality requirements. As the Quality authority for assigned projects, you will apply a risk-driven approach to quality planning, execution, and oversight to deliver value and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure customer quality requirements are clearly captured, understood, and effectively addressed by the project team.
  • Define, cascade, and manage Quality Assurance requirements across assigned projects.
  • Apply a risk-based approach to Quality Assurance activities, anticipating and mitigating risks based on project complexity and team maturity.
  • Guide project teams in defining, tailoring, and validating project baselines and quality plans.
  • Monitor project execution against approved plans, evaluating quality performance at key milestones and deliverables.
  • Provide "Quality Advice" and visibility to project leadership and management.
  • Perform compliance assessments against contractual and Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Develop, execute, and maintain Project Quality Assurance Plans and Software Quality Assurance Plans.
  • Support, coach, and train project teams on quality processes, risk identification, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in project gate and milestone reviews, providing quality assessments and acceptance input.
  • Escalate quality concerns when required, including raising vetoes for unresolved non-compliance or critical risks.
  • Prepare and deliver Quality Management Reports demonstrating the effectiveness of quality processes.
  • Support Safety Case Reviews and Safety Certification Readiness Reviews.
  • Monitor customer feedback in collaboration with the Customer Satisfaction Lead.
  • Review and approve project artefacts to ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulations, and standards.
  • Prepare monthly quality metrics and project health reports for the Project Core Team.
  • Conduct QA assessments of engineering artefacts and analyze findings to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead or support Root Cause Analyses across multiple disciplines (Engineering, Safety, PMO, etc.).
  • Participate in lessons learned and risk review sessions to ensure process adherence and compliance evidence.
  • Support customer audits and perform internal audits as required; track and verify corrective action plans.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in system/software engineering or Quality Assurance in a technology or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Assurance practices, procedures, and Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience conducting investigations and Root Cause Analysis across multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent problem-solving, written, verbal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in complex, regulated system environments (Transportation, Aerospace, Medical Devices, Nuclear, Cybersecurity).
  • Knowledge of the transportation domain and/or CBTC systems.
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, or equivalent).

  • Process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, DMAIC)
