- Assist with field work using Trimble Handheld GPS and Terrasync software to capture and authenticate various municipal infrastructure including Transportation and Parks assets.
- Extract attribute data from engineering and building drawings or inspection notes.
- Edit ESRI geodatabase feature datasets, shapefiles and tables.
- Map layout creation for all City departments.
- Scan and digitize engineering records.
- Conduct data gap analysis between GIS datasets and the Asset Management System
- Other office/field duties within the Engineering Department may be assigned, as required.
- Must be pursuing a post-secondary education in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Urban Planning, Environmental Design and Planning or equivalent.
- Experience using Esri products including ArcGIS Desktop and extensions, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online is required.
- Knowledge of GPS data collection principles and/or experience reading civil engineering drawings would be an asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of municipal asset management systems would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning and organization skills.
- High attention to detail and data entry are essential.
- A valid Ontario driver's license (minimum Class G), in good standing and reliable vehicle.
- 35-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
- Municipal office conditions, subject to frequent interruptions responding to staff inquiries.
- Occasional work outside in all weather conditions.
- Usage of personal vehicle may be required depending on availability of City vehicles.
