We're looking for a Senior Accountant to play a key role in ensuring the financial integrity of our business. You'll join a collaborative Finance team supporting multiple business units, driving accuracy, efficiency, and insight across a fast-paced and evolving organization.
This role will be performed remotely from Red Deer, Alberta.
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting Chatters' financial reporting, compliance, and operational accounting processes. This role ensures timely and accurate financial information to guide strategic decisions and maintain fiscal accountability.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive—comfortable working across departments and managing multiple priorities. You'll be instrumental in supporting month-end and year-end processes, improving financial workflows, and helping strengthen Chatters' overall financial foundation.
What You Will Do
Financial Operations & Reporting
• Support day-to-day accounting and compliance activities across business units.
• Process, allocate, and report transactions and reconciliations related to the Loyalty Program.
• Prepare and file sales tax reports, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Gather and analyze cash flow data to support reporting and forecasting.
• Perform fixed asset calculations and reporting, maintaining accurate asset records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
• Support project tracking, costing, and budget variance analysis.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports to support management decisions.
Collaboration & Compliance
• Work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure financial data integrity.
• Assist in preparing documentation for audits, reviews, and compliance activities.
• Maintain and improve internal accounting controls and documentation standards.
• Participate in special financial projects and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Who You Are
• Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience in a similar or related role.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
• Solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
• Familiarity with IFRS standards (an asset).
• Experience with journal entries, internal controls, and external audit processes.
• Proficiency with cloud-based accounting systems (MS Business Central preferred).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Power BI is an asset.
• Strong ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
• Industry experience in retail or service sectors is an asset.
