Company:Finning CanadaNumber of Openings:1Worker Type:PermanentPosition Overview:Finning is seeking a results-driven and safety-focused Manager, Service Operations to lead our Red Deer Construction Industry and Power & Energy shop and field service team.

In this key leadership role, you'll oversee customer interactions, service scheduling, and shop/field operations to ensure timely, high-quality P&E rebuilds, service and maintenance. You'll be accountable for the full-service lifecycle—from resource planning to work order closure—while fostering a culture of safety, performance, and continuous improvement.Job Description:
  • Champion a healthy and safe work environment by leading safety initiatives and ensuring compliance with all standards and procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership for service staff, including recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
  • Review service results daily, weekly, and monthly, and manage Service Work in Progress (SWIP) to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and consistently follow safe work procedures.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with unionized employees and support a positive labor environment.
  • Ensure timely closure and invoicing of work orders to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Interpret and act on KPIs related to branch profitability and service performance.
  • Represent Finning professionally in all customer and internal interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with Caterpillar equipment and engines.
  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification (Red Seal) is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills in a service operations environment.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage, motivate, and lead teams.
  • Proven customer relationship management skills.
  • Solid understanding of CAT and non-CAT warranties, product health, and service structures.
  • Knowledge of the National Safety Code (NSC) and OH&S requirements.
  • Familiarity with collective agreements and performance management processes.
  • Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

  • Permanent, full-time role.
  • Monday – Friday, 5x2 shift.
