Role ResponsibilitiesLooking to play a critical role in keeping Alberta's roads safe? Join a team that licenses the professionals behind every new driver—and help shape the standards that impact thousands of Albertans every day. Driver, Carrier and Vehicle Services is the province's licensing body and the foundational entry point for individuals, drivers, carriers, and vehicle programs. Our client-centric approach supports the safe and efficient movement of people and goods across Alberta, and we're looking for a Licensing Officer to help us deliver on that mission.
As a Licensing Officer in the Examinations, Licensing and Support Section, you will ensure that Driver Training Schools, Driving Instructors, and Driver Examiners are properly licensed and meet all regulatory requirements. From evaluating applications and issuing licences to supporting system improvements and advising stakeholders, your work will directly influence the integrity and safety of Alberta's driver education framework.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Assessing and issuing licences for driver training schools, instructors, and examiners in accordance with legislation.
- Providing expert guidance to stakeholders, including contractors, registry agents, and the public.
- Developing and maintaining program documentation, forms, and reports.
- Managing licensing data and ensuring integrity within systems like TSIS and MOVES.
- Supporting policy and system improvements, including user testing and cross-departmental coordination.
- Processing and reconciling licensing fees and financial transactions.

QualificationsRequired:
- A high school diploma and at least four (4) years of related experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
- Cover letter detailing how your skills and experience align with the role's responsibilities, used to assess writing and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Proficiency with licensing systems (e.g., TSIS).
- Familiarity with the Alberta driver training and examination industry.
Equivalencies are:
- A related two-year diploma and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or a related four-year university degree and no related experience.

NotesAdditional Position Details:
- This position is a temporary (up to March 2027), full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).

Recruitment Process:
- This competition may be used to fill current and future vacancies at the Administrative Support 6 classification for temporary and permanent positions within the Driver, Carrier and Vehicle Services Branch.
