Responsibilities
- Collect and process biological specimens through venipuncture, blood sampling, and other specimen collection techniques while maintaining strict adherence to aseptic procedures.
- Perform laboratory techniques such as RNA extraction, DNA isolation, ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), PCR (polymerase chain reaction), flow cytometry, and immunoassays to support research and clinical testing.
- Manage laboratory data efficiently using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), ensuring accuracy in data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Assist with laboratory management tasks including inventory control, equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Support clinical trials by preparing samples, documenting procedures, and maintaining detailed records of specimen processing and test results.
- Contribute to laboratory operations by verifying test results, performing quality control checks, and supporting assay development.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, blood banking procedures, and hospital protocols to ensure precise execution of laboratory duties.
Experience
- Prior clinical or research laboratory experience is highly desirable, especially in settings involving specimen collection or processing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in laboratory techniques such as PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, and immunoassays.
- Experience with laboratory management systems (LIMS) and data analysis skills to interpret complex datasets effectively.
- Familiarity with venipuncture (blood sampling), phlebotomy procedures, vital signs measurement, and aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to blood banking and specimen handling within hospital environments.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and laboratory procedures used in clinical laboratories or hospital settings.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment dedicated to patient care or research excellence.
