Reporting to the Controller, the Accounts Payable Manager will lead the full procure-to-pay lifecycle, driving efficiency, accuracy, and automation initiatives. This versatile
permanent
role combines subject-matter expertise with change leadership to streamline workflows, enhance compliance, and ensure timely, accurate vendor payments.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Provide leadership and development for a centralized Accounts Payable team, including recruitment, performance management, and professional growth, while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Lead and evolve the organization's procure-to-pay strategy by establishing clear, standardized processes and strong internal controls
- Partner closely with Operations and Procurement to ensure accurate invoice processing and timely vendor payments
- Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs, dashboards, and exception reporting to drive performance and lead month-end AP close activities
- Evaluate end-to-end workflows to identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and process optimization, implementing AI and other finance technology solutions as appropriate
- Develop governance frameworks, training plans, and SOPs to support responsible adoption of automation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Proactively address payment issues, maintain strong vendor relationships, and safeguard confidential financial and personal information in accordance with internal controls and privacy standards
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Commerce
- CPA designation is a definite asset, but not required
- Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in Accounts Payable or Procure-to-Pay environments
- Experience with Yardi or similar ERP systems is an asset
- Proven experience leading process improvement and automation initiatives
- Strong data analysis skills, including dashboards, KPIs, and exception reporting
- Experience operating in a shared services model supporting multiple business lines
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and management levels
