About Us

The Knotty Lumber Co. is a rapidly growing custom woodworking shop and specialty hardwood lumber supplier. We build furniture, tables, countertops, cutting boards, and live-edge products while also supporting a fast-scaling e-commerce business. Our shop has experienced significant growth, and we are expanding our production capabilities—particularly in edge-grain and end-grain cutting board glue-ups.

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable, motivated Woodworker to join our production team. This role is hands-on and fast-paced, supporting daily shop operations, product manufacturing, glue-ups, sanding and finishing, order preparation, and occasional customer or delivery support.

This position is ideal for someone who shows up consistently, works efficiently, and takes ownership of their responsibilities in a growing shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Safely operate woodworking equipment including jointers, planers, table saws, chop saws, belt sanders, and hand tools
  • Assist in production of cutting boards (edge grain and end grain), furniture, countertops, and other shop products
  • Prepare stock and parts for production and glue-ups
  • Sand, prep, and finish products for delivery or shipment
  • Assist with packing and preparing online orders
  • Support retail floor and customer requests as needed
  • Perform general shop duties and maintain a clean, organized workspace
  • Assist with installation and deliveries when required
  • Learn internal task management systems and assist with material ordering and shop organization
  • Communicate clearly with management and team members
  • Other duties as required in a growing production shop

Requirements (Read Carefully)

  • Proven reliability and punctuality — this is essential
  • Ability to work efficiently in a time-sensitive production environment
  • Minimum 5 years carpentry or wood shop experience
  • Comfortable and safe using professional woodworking machinery
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and take feedback
  • Valid G driver's license in good standing (required)
  • English fluency required

Job Details

  • Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, weekends as needed
  • Wage: $22.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Education: Secondary school diploma required
