Job Purpose:

As a Barista, you are the heart of our café and the primary connection between our guests and their daily coffee experience. You will create and serve high-quality beverages with care and consistency while providing warm, attentive, and friendly service. Your knowledge of our menu, ability to anticipate guest needs, and enthusiasm for coffee culture are key to our continued success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Guest Experience: Provide outstanding and welcoming service to all guests from greeting to farewell.
  • Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages to standard.
  • Menu Knowledge: Maintain strong knowledge of our coffee, tea, and food offerings to answer questions and make recommendations.
  • Order Accuracy: Accurately take and input orders using our POS system.
  • Upselling: Suggest pairings and add-ons to enhance the guest experience and maximize sales.
  • Cleanliness: Keep the café environment clean and organized, including equipment, counters, and seating areas.
  • Compliance: Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Cash Handling: Manage guest bills, process payments accurately, and follow all cash-out procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of barista or café experience.
  • Personality: Positive, energetic, and professional demeanor.
  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional guest service skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-Oriented: Focus on consistency and quality in every beverage served.
  • Certification: Food Safe Level 1 or willingness to obtain (preferred).

Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced café environment.
  • Required to operate espresso machines and other café equipment, handle hot/cold beverages, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (coffee bags, milk crates, etc.).
