Finance Manager

The ideal candidate will lead the financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities for our firm and oversee the day-to-day accounting and payroll operations of our engineering firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR, ADP payroll coordination, expense tracking, and month-end close.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy in all financial records.
- Manage and reconcile project-based financials, including job costing, WIP schedules, and revenue recognition.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure proper project setup, billing, and financial tracking.
- Produce timely financial reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis with guidance from the Director of Finance.
- Monitor cash flow, manage bank reconciliations, and track key financial metrics.
- Support the implementation internal controls and process improvements.
- Liaise with external accountants, tax preparers, and vendors as needed.
- Help manage project-based accounting and job costing related to engineering services.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- General supervision of all accounting staff.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
- CPA designation (complete or in final stages)
- 5-7 years' experience within a small to medium-sized organization
- Solid experience and knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, internal controls, business planning, and asset management
- Working knowledge and experience with ADP Workforce Now payroll software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite, and general accounting software
- Excellent organizational skills
- Expert knowledge in finance and accounting procedures and regulations
- Strong analytical and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and on tight deadlines
