Come make your difference in communities across Canada, where authenticity, trust and making connections is valued – as we shape the future of Canadian retail, together. Our unique position as one of the country's largest employers, coupled with our commitment to positively impact the lives of all Canadians, provides our colleagues a range of opportunities and experiences to help Canadians Live Life Well.

Manager, Retail Communications-14 Month Contract
The Impact You'll Make:
We are looking for a seasoned and creative Manager of Retail Communication to act as a key strategic partner for our Hard Discount and National Wholesale teams. A primary responsibility of this role is providing expert service and counsel directly to the President, Hard Discount, the SVP, National Wholesale, and their senior leadership teams.

You will leverage this partnership to develop and drive a cohesive communication strategy that aligns internal teams with our external brand voice. This involves translating business objectives into compelling narratives that ensure our colleagues and owners are informed, engaged, and empowered as brand ambassadors. Ultimately, you will be responsible for creating a consistent and authentic message across all channels, from internal town halls to external-facing programs.

What You'll Do:

  • Act as the central storyteller, developing content that seamlessly bridges internal and external audiences. This includes managing internal platforms (flp, Viva Engage, town halls, newsletters, etc.) to build an informed workforce, and as an integral member of the Corporate Affairs & Communication (CAC) team, amplifying our most impactful stories for the public through media relations and external-facing content.
  • Serve as a guardian of our brand voice, ensuring consistency, clarity, and authenticity across all communications, whether for a frontline colleague or an external stakeholder.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset within the department, by effectively measuring the impact of communication efforts post-implementation and adjusting wherever necessary.
  • As a member of the CAC team, routinely support the communication function by monitoring the Loblaw PR inbox, and distributing the daily media summary.
  • Lead and execute public relations programs as assigned, including store grand opening and other community engagement initiatives, that support the company's reputation strategy.
  • Support the development and execution of crisis communication plans, ensuring timely, accurate, and aligned messaging for all stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Occasionally travel in Canada (and abroad) to support various events and connect with frontline teams.

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years of related communication experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a belief in plain language, and an ability to write in various styles and formats.
  • Track record of planning and executing strategic communication plans that drive measurable business results.
  • In-depth understanding of public relations and internal communications principles and practices.
  • Proven ability to support and counsel senior leaders; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with script development and video production.
  • Event management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of, and experience using the Microsoft tools (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Engage).
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to change and meet timelines (without sacrificing quality).
  • A positive attitude, a desire to learn, a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get work done either independently or as part of a team.
  • Assets: bilingualism, experience in the retail industry, and a sense of humour.
