Job Summary
BA Folding Cartons is looking to hire an enthusiastic, hardworking professional who is financially cost conscious and customer focused to join our team as an Estimator.
This position will be reporting to Estimating Supervisor. We expect the candidate to leverage their knowledge of, and experience with, manufacturing best practices, food safety, project management, financial targets, quality assurance, statistical processes, and ERP/MRP/SRM systems operating and automation concepts to help grow and expand the role and responsibilities to support future growth within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to and supports Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) concepts, policies, and procedures within a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certified environment
- Supporting and assisting the Estimating Supervisor and helping them make the appropriate decisions to successfully win bids
- Carefully reviewing design drawings and layouts
- Estimating project costs
- Gathers details and compiles accurate data to estimate all production costs according to specifications and budgetary considerations
- Considers raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, transportation, and warehousing
- Identifying and evaluating all technical issues that are related to a particular design
- Assist in identifying new sources of materials, trade services, etc. that can be used to reduce costs once Purchasing has approved them based on our sourcing criteria (i.e. GMP & GFSI requirements)
- Helps prepare for and participates in internal and external audits of GMP & GFSI system as required
- Supports GMP and EPICOR system improvements, testing, error correction, and root cause analysis
- Responsible for soliciting vendors for raw materials, trade services, and equipment for production and projects as required
- Evaluates vendor quotes and services and their lead times to determine most appropriate pricing to be utilized in estimates
- Uses EPICOR system and other tools to: plan and track purchasing spend and production order costing, control and reduce costs, define and realize opportunities for process improvements, such as EPICOR master data integrity, duplication, and process automation, helps determine necessary resources for production and projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints
- Works with Design, Pre-Press, Customer Service, and Sales teams to meet deadlines to ensure customer satisfaction
- Attends annual training sessions to support 5S, HACCP, MSDS, GMP and GFSI systems as required
- Other duties as assigned
Experience/ Qualifications
- College or University graduate with exposure to or focus on packaging/manufacturing : Co-op preferred
- Minimum 2 years experience in a packaging/print environment in an estimating role OR 3-5 years experience in a paperboard/corrugated packaging environment in an estimating, production support or scheduling role
- Must have excellent customer service skills, well-developed and efficient verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, good time management and scheduling skills, and the ability to work and be efficient in a very fluid work environment
- Should be well versed in Microsoft Office with preference given to individuals with advanced Excel skills and exposure to Epicor software
