Job Overview

Nuada Law is seeking an Associate Lawyer with 3 to 5 years of experience in civil litigation to join a growing legal practice. Employment law experience is required. This is a full-time, in-person position in downtown Toronto, just a short walk from the subway and on the PATH.

This is an opportunity to work in a modern, tech-forward legal practice that leverages AI to enhance efficiency, research, and client service. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking lawyer who embraces innovation in legal practice and can independently manage litigation files while also collaborating on complex matters. You will work directly with the principal lawyer on a wide range of employment law matters, with a particular focus on litigation. This is a unique opportunity for a lawyer who wants to do more than handle files; it's a chance to be part of a growing practice and play a meaningful role in shaping the firm's future.

Duties

  • Prepare and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with court requirements
  • Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as LexisNexis to support case strategies
  • Develop case strategies by analyzing facts, evidence, and applicable laws
  • Represent clients in court hearings, depositions, settlement negotiations, and other legal proceedings
  • Draft legal documents with clarity and precision, including contracts, memoranda, and correspondence
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients to resolve disputes efficiently
  • Collaborate with clients, witnesses, experts, and other stakeholders throughout the litigation process
  • Maintain organized case files and ensure all deadlines are met

Qualifications

  • Licensed member of the LSO and in good standing
  • Proven experience in litigation practice, with a focus on civil cases
  • Strong research skills with proficiency in CanLII or similar legal research platforms
  • Excellent negotiation abilities to advocate effectively for clients' interests
  • Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents
  • Proficiency in legal drafting and analysis to support case development
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to navigate complex legal issues
  • Ability to use AI responsibly

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
