Purpose
The Analyst will be responsible for working with the team to support the Fixed Income business by maintaining books and security set-ups as requested and troubleshooting issues in the front and back-end systems. A high standard of quality is required at all times in order to reduce operational risk. As the team continues to grow and evolve, we will also be working to introduce new controls to monitor daily processes across the source systems we support and increase efficiencies in those processes.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Performing new security and/or books set up and static data validation including:

 New Security set up across GLOSS, MMI/Anvil and ADP/Impact. i.e. New Issue codes, Futures, TIPS, US Treasuries Auction, Term Deposits, Amortizes, etc. for different regions of BNS

 Candeal, Bloomberg and MarkitWire administration – handling of new set up requests and maintenance of the existing accounts

 Identify trends / errors and suggest enhancements to process/ database to improve overall efficiency

 Participate different meetings to represent the group among the stakeholders

 Conduct tests in testing (UAT) environment and involve with project/system migration work as necessary

 Any other duties as assigned

Security maintenance and verify/map/capture pertinent information to the related sub-systems including:

 Maintenance of all existing securities in front and back-office systems, ensuring that all necessary adjustments that could impact trades are completed

 Necessary adjustents include pool factor and variable rate updates on MMI/Anvil/Impact, ongoing monitoring/updating of CPI rates on MMI/Anvil/Impact, weekly updates to perpetual trading blotter, monitoring, and reconciliation of last coupon/accrual details between MMI/Anvil vs. Bloomberg

 Special handling of fungible securities, call/reorg/maturities, investigation of discrepancies/errors via Inspector and PXE modules in MMI, testing of new business initiatives in UAT environment

 Being responsible for data entered into the sub-systems accurately

 Maintaining a working knowledge of the various security products

Performing other admin / routine duties as assigned from time to time, including:

 Setting up transits, booking points in K2 as well as investigations, if any

 Participate in BCP/BRP tests etc. as called for including non-business hours/days occurrences

 Re-build CUSIP for WSS Money Market

 Participate in user acceptance testing activities for ongoing system enhancements or implementation of new systems as

well as system migration

 Input Float Rates into various systems as per set cut off time

 Document standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain the standard set of rules

 Provide cross training to existing or new employees to create backups and reduce operational risks

 Provide support in major project imitative through to completion as directed

Skills

  • Sound PC skills are required to communicate and operate within an automated, technology based work environment especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • High efficiency, flexibility and solid organizational skills are required to complete work in an accurate and thorough manner within deadlines
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
  • Solid analytical skills and problem solving skills
  • Work environment is fast paced and challenging, but very rewarding
  • Ability to work within a team environment and contribute positively to team spirit and moral
  • May need to work on Canadian holidays to support global business/locations of Scotiabank
  • Knowledge of GLOSS, MMI, Anvil, IMPACT, WSS Money Market, K2, ADP, Broadridge, CANDEAL Evolution, Bloomberg and SSCNet systems would be an asset
