The Opportunity
The Corporate Services Division of the Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a professional, energetic and self-directed individual with excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills to fill the position of manager of finance. Reporting to the executive director, the successful candidate will:
- Provide financial, analytical and strategic advice to senior management
- Lead the ministry's budget development process and fiscal forecasting, which includes monitoring, analyzing the ministry's expenditures, revenue, cost sharing, capital and FTE budgets
- Support senior leaders to achieve the ministry's strategic plan by providing regular reporting on results and performance measures
- Manage the annual audit review with the external auditors'
- Establish and oversee robust organisational processes, policies and controls that safeguard assets and promote fiscal accountability
- Liaise with the Ministry of Finance on the implementation of the new Government Enterprise Management system (GEM)
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will bring strong financial management skills and knowledge of public sector accounting and generally accepted accounting principles. You will also have strong verbal and written communication skills, combined with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be attained through completion of a university degree in business administration or commerce and experience in public sector financial management. A professional accounting designation (CPA) is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
