Job Summary

Alberta Truss is seeking a experienced Senior Roof Truss & Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Designer to join our Edmonton team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who can independently manage complex residential and multi-family projects while providing technical leadership and mentorship within the design team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of roof truss and EWP systems in accordance with CSA standards and Alberta building codes
  • Produce and review truss layouts, sealed design drawings, and material take-offs
  • Review architectural and structural drawings for accuracy, efficiency, and constructability
  • Resolve complex design challenges and provide technical solutions
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and project management teams to ensure buildable, cost-effective designs
  • Provide advanced technical support to builders, contractors, and internal staff
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and workflows

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing roof trusses and engineered wood products
  • Advanced proficiency with MiTek design software
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian building codes and CSA requirements
  • Strong ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and identify design risks
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high-volume project workloads independently
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
