As a National Account Manager – Vision Care (NAM – VC), you will provide a field interface with accounts and be responsible for effective strategizing, planning, and the development and execution of robust selling strategies that optimize the Alcon Vision Care (AVC) portfolio potential and generate strong demand (sell in, sell through) ensuring sales meet or exceed target. This is an 18-month contract position. You will be an essential contributor and leader within the sales & marketing function with the responsibilities to enhance matrix wide competencies, alignment, effectiveness, and productivity. The NAM will be responsible for the achievement of specific sales and brand objectives within his/her assigned National and Regional accounts, with a primary focus on National Retail Chains, while also generating long term profitability for the AVC business unit. Business to business negotiations and presentations with C-Suites and buyers, including the management of Alcon commercial agreements with customers to grow and protect the AVC business. This role will report to the Director, National Accounts - Vision Care (D-NAVC).

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Achieve revenue targets (meet or exceed) and established profit objectives within assigned National Account customers.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive and impactful strategic account plans (annual, quarterly) to meet business plan objectives, ensuring Brand and Investment strategies are aligned with corporate objectives, and maximize sales, share and profitability.
  • Ensure first-class creation and execution of customer specific programs, promotional campaigns, tactics and activities through "out of the box" thinking, effective collaboration; both externally and internally within Alcon Matrix (Legal, Sales, Finance, and Marketing etc.)
  • Ensure flawless execution and post-initiative analysis of program results, analyzing impact at local field level, including financial and profit and loss analysis of activities through support of the Alcon Commercial Insights & Analytics Group; communicate with customers and management accordingly.
  • Own negotiation and management of Alcon-Customer agreements (contracts) for assigned customers, ensuring both a judicious and detailed review of on-going and future opportunities. Provide recommendations to Alcon management on required commercial, financial terms and conditions that will improve future commercial success and profitability of AVC. Lead internal cross-functional collaboration.
  • Manage senior stakeholder engagement and relationship management; lead on-going quarterly account reviews to ensure plans are being realized. Facilitate relationship building opportunities with customer and Alcon Leadership through ad hoc top to top meetings. Clear and effective communication, influence key stakeholders to gain adoption on National Account initiatives, ensuring excellence in execution.
  • Effectively manage stock and trade (inventory management) and provide ongoing input into sales forecasting by customer, in addition to actively contributing attending Alcon sales demand planning meetings.
  • Trade spend management to ensure both top and bottom-line financial health; collaborates with finance to ensure accuracy in forecasted monthly and annual Trade Spend Budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt to levels of uncertainty and make decisions in the face of unpredictability, imperfect information, and multiple unknowns.
  • Smart Team participation, Marketing Meetings, and input. Participation in regional / conference calls. Attend impactful customer conferences/shows and general meetings.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • University Bachelor's Degree (Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Science)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience in National or Key Account Management Role or equivalent Business Development Role.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation abilities, with a proven capacity to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Travel up to 30% for meetings, training and conferences in Canada and US (weekends and evenings required).
  • Confident and effective in delivering presentations and leading discussions in boardroom settings and large audience environments.
  • A strong communicator who fosters trust and commitment by articulating ideas in a compelling and collaborative manner.
  • CPG / OTC sales, healthcare, medical device or pharmaceutical sales working with Buyers / C-Suites at Head Office Leve.
  • Retail Account Management or digital or ecommerce experience.
  • Must be able to travel, including periodic evening and weekend company and customer functions.
  • Exhibits Ownership, Accountability, Speed and Simplicity.
  • Able to function autonomously and independently with the highest level of integrity in order to execute a vast array of initiatives with quality.
  • Strong planning and interpersonal skills along with an ability to lead and influence without authority.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proficiency in oral and written French preferred.
  • Familiarity with Eye Care experience/industry, competitive knowledge and technical selling capabilities (contact lens, pharmacy and/or OTC) is an asset.
  • Management experiences with National Retailers, Buying Groups or Group Purchasing Organizations.
  • Digital, Social or E-commerce experiences in a B2C or B2B setting.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities and work collaboratively with other team leads to deliver companies objectives.
